After graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science specializing in Molecular Genetics, Yun was motivated by her personal experience with Traditional Chinese Medicine to pursue studies of Oriental-based medicine. She graduated from the International College of TCM of Vancouver as a registered acupuncturist in 2007 after 4 years of intensive study. The program included TCM diagnosis and disease patterns, internal medicine, acupuncture, Chinese herbology and Chinese massage.
Yun’s treatments focus on balancing the body, mind and spirit to achieve increased health by assisting the body in accessing it’s natural ability to heal itself. Along with Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yun recommends a multi-disciplinary approach to assist in bringing the body into balance, which includes working with other health professionals to ensure more holistic and effective results.
Common medical problems that Yun often treats using acupuncture include musculo-skeletal injuries, acute/chronic pains, digestive disorders, gynaecological disorders, depression and insomnia. During a treatment you can expect the use of a variety of Chinese acupressure massage techniques, cupping, and dietary advice. Acupuncture treatment is especially effective in addressing sport-related injuries by reducing inflammation and encouraging healing of the functional impairment.
If this is your first appointment, booking for 90 minutes will allow enough time to thoroughly review your health history, design and deliver an appropriate treatment plan, and provide home care prescriptions.
